Unwatched movie pile March '07: It Begins Here

This is from an idea I had in the unwatched dvd pile thread.

This kicks off March 1st, but you can get your place in the thread now so you don't have to worry about it later.

Section one will be how many movies you have to watch at the beginning of the month. This won't get updated.

Section two will be your list of movies as you watch them. Update as you watch.

Section three will be for the bad, bad man who forces you to buy new movies even though you can't finish what you have. You could either to a count and change it as you get it, or impress us all with a list instead so we can see that you bought the new Power Rangers movie.

Section four will be your net gain/loss. It'll be zero at first but let's say you watch 3 movies, it just became -3. The next day there's a 20% off sale at DDD, add 40 more so now it's +37.

You don't keep making new posts, you just edit the one you make.

The next month, I can carry over everyone's to do count from the previous month, adjust it with your net change and show off(or possibly disgrace you if you buy more than you watch, we are trying to get you through this pile dude), with your new total.

3. Should the list include movies we have seen before, but:
a. Never on DVD
b. Never watched that particular version on DVD before (if you have seen Dazed & Confused on DVD before, but never the Criterion version you now own)

And yes I do like to complicate things
Most of these are really up to how you would normally count them.

For me:

1. One TV volume or season is one. Family Guy had season 2 and 3 in one volume, so for me that would count as one.

2. I usually do one count for each movie.

3. Depends on how many movies I have to watch. I usually include it as I want to watch it to make sure nothing is wrong with it.

In the end, it's up to you how you normally do it.

That would mean you watched 12.9 movies a day in a 31 day month. This isn't even possible.

What he didn't mention is they were all porn, and he fast-forwarded through the bits where people had their clothes on.

great thread, this might motivate me to actually start getting to the bottom of my pile. i've actually stopped buying catalogue titles for about two months, and my new release purchasing has slowed to a trickle as well.

i checked my want list at DDD, and nothing is screaming at me to purchase at the upcoming sale, so maybe i can dent this puppy over the next six months. i'll put an approximate count, and then i'll do an exact one when i get back from Frisco after this weekend. yup, headed to Wondercon!

Unwatched Movies: approx. 800

It was about a month, I think there was an extra week.

What helped me was that I had a box set that was filled with older horror movies from around the 50's and earlier and many of those ran around an hour long. With the exception of an hour of exercise, I would literally sit or lay on my couch, or chair, and watch movie after movie after movie...

My wife and kids were in Japan and I only had one class at the time so it was a perfect time to become a movie watching hermit.

I've only counted movies that I've either never seen at all or never saw all the way through. I left out anything that I've seen before but still haven't watched my own DVD of it.
